Meet Dr. Frost (PT, DPT, IFMCP)
Kayla is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP), dedicated to empowering others through movement and holistic wellness. A native of Encinitas, California, she believes that movement is not only essential but a gift to be celebrated.
She graduated with honors from the University of Puget Sound, earning a B.S. in Exercise Science. Early in her career, Kayla worked as a Master Personal Trainer at LA Fitness, certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Her training philosophy combined biomechanics, body awareness, nutritional principles rooted in the “food is medicine” approach, and mental health practices. She also embraced the concept of “rewilding,” which included integrating ancestral health habits such as consuming fermented foods, walking barefoot on natural terrain, and replacing prolonged sitting with functional movement patterns like deep squats.
Recognizing that many clients faced injuries and chronic health conditions that limited their ability to fully participate in fitness programs, Kayla was motivated to deepen her knowledge of rehabilitation and healing. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA, where she received the Outstanding FLEX Physical Therapy Student Award in recognition of her professionalism, clinical reasoning, ethical standards, and commitment to growth.
Today, Kayla is passionate about addressing the root causes of disease and movement dysfunction through the integration of physical therapy and functional medicine. She is committed to helping individuals move with ease, restore vitality, and realize their full potential. She encourages her patients and community alike to keep learning, keep moving, and to continue celebrating the gift of movement.
