Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I see you?

Typically, physical therapy clients are seen 1-2 times per week for 10-12 weeks, depending on their individual needs. For wellness services, clients may choose frequent visits or opt for a monthly wellness check-up.

Do I need my own equipment?

No, we provide the necessary equipment for your session’s needs. You may benefit from acquiring some of your own equipment to monitor your health and work on your goals outside of our sessions.

What can I expect on the first visit?

Our first visit will consist of an Initial Wellness and Movement Evaluation. Please dress in comfortable clothing that allows for full range of motion.

Do you accept insurance?

While we do not accept commercial insurance, we do accept federal payers, including Medicare. This intentional model allows us to deliver the best one-on-one care. We believe in giving our clients what they need without being limited by insurance restrictions, which may dictate the time, frequency, and type of care you receive. Passage Physical Therapy and Wellness may be used as an adjunct to insurance-based care.

If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide you with a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company to facilitate reimbursement for medically necessary physical therapy services.

Do I need a referral for "wellness" services?

No, you do not need a referral for wellness services. For physical therapy services, California’s Direct Access law states patients can participate in physical therapy without a referral from a doctor for 12 visits or 45 calendar days, whichever comes first. If you are participating in a physical therapy program, you will need to visit your primary care doctor after 12 visits and get a referral for continued care.

Why do I need to answer all these intake questions?

Gathering detailed information about your lifestyle and medical history is essential. It allows us to understand your specific needs and document medical necessity accurately, ensuring you receive the most effective and personalized care.
